With technology and increasing reliance on GPS, being able to read a map, or use a compass, is becoming a lost art. Last Christmas I gave my Grandkids a challenge, to find their presents, using a small map and giving magnetic bearings and distance. I was rather dismayed to find they did not know how to read a compass or magnetic orientation. I therefore ordered this for them to use. At the current price of $11.99 I really was not expecting much in the way of quality. However, This exceeded my expectations. I am VERY pleased with the quality of this compass as it is actually better than my old 50-plus year old compass. It is very well built. Pros: — Being liquid filled is a definite bonus as it dampens the Compass card movements and gives accurate readings. — Floating compass card gives more information and rotates smoothly compared to cheap "Needles" on a spindle which tends to hang up if not completely level — Heavy and very sturdy construction. — Moveable bezel with clear markings — When sighting, there is a very clear, magnified and adjustable lens to easily see the bearing. — Comes with a nice carry pouch, metal whistle (see below) and paracord lanyard. — A 1/4-inch tripod screw socket is included if you wish to use a tripod. Neutral: — The whistle is all metal which is better than most that sellers supply. While it is a nice touch/addition, while it works well, it is really not that loud. But it will suffice if you do not have a better whistle. — While there are available resources online, an instruction booklet for beginners would have been nice.

After spending a couple years with this product, I am very happy with my purchase. As a former archaeologist, this may have been my most useful purchases in the since starting fieldwork 4 years ago. Easy to use, high quality product that endure plenty of abuse, and pretty dang accurate.

thoroughly impressed with this unit, expecially at the price. I recently also bought a "Anbte Hiking Compass" for more money, and it was total junk (wrote a review). In addition, i'm informed that it is not eligble for return 🙁
My Inmaker purchase has 1 degree resolution which i got repeatabily of +/- 2 degrees, which is extremely good for such a low cost hand compass.
The eyepiece is adjustable so that you get sharp focus on the scale numbers. My only beef is that it is loose and could come out of the main housing if not paying attention. Trying to figure a way of adding some form of resistance to the threads so that it can still be adjustable, yet not come out on its own. But that's just me 😉
