I got this tent for my backyard so I would have a respite so to speak, from the intense heat and sun of the southern summer. We had an unprecedented freeze over the winter, and pretty much everything including a lot of the native Southern trees died so this has been an unusually hot summer so far.
I opened it up immediately on arrival to make sure that it was in good condition and there were no tears. It was pretty easy to put together once I figured out that you pull out the poles until they lock into place. This is the first time I've ever put up and I did it by myself in less than 10 minutes. The listing says it sets up an under 60 seconds, but I would say this is with two or more people who have pitched a tent before and know exactly what they are doing. And I would not include staking this down or attaching the rain fly in this 60 second claim.
The only thing I would say is that I could definitely not see more than two people in this tent. The listing says the base is 94.5 inches X 94.5 inches which translates to just under 8 ft by 8 ft. However, the sides do slant upward so you lose several inches by the time you reach the ceiling. So you basically have an area that is comfortably maneuverable that realistically is about 80 inches by 80 inches. I do like how the base has a "tub" bottom, meaning the base floor goes up about 3 in all the way around the bottom of the tent which is very helpful in torrential downpours where you could easily get a good two or more inches of rainfall in one downpour. It has downpoured several times at my house since I've put the tent up and it has survived through each of the rain storms. I did buy longer stakes for better security because we get wind gusts pretty significantly in our normal afternoon rain storms. I am happy with this overall and glad this was my first tent, but I know for sure I could never actually go camping with something this small for an extended amount of time. For me, I already have my next tent picked out based off of what I have experienced with this over the last couple weeks. For me, getting a bigger tent will definitely be a priority, and I've already seen one with a "full" rain fly, which I would definitely prefer especially now I have experienced being inside a tent for the first time in a heavy downpour. This is a great little tent though-perfect for one person, probably for two people max, or maybe an adult and a couple small kids. Otherwise, there isn't going to be much more room for your gear.
